SHANTUNG TROOPS
MUTINY IN PEKIN

PBKIN, 2nd -March,
Tho city experienced another panic this morning. A regiment of former Shantung troops, incorporated at the close of the recent hostilities in the Nationalist army, mutinied 'in the vicinity of Lama Temple. They manned that section of the city walls and commenced shooting at anything and anybody, halting business and traffic. ■'■■'■;■
Loyalist troops surrounded the isolated temple and quelled the revolt and 'disarmed- the mutineers. The number of casualties is -unobtainable.
The district condoned the- uprising which is believed to- be part of the former Shantung war lord, Chang Chung-chang's attempt' to regain power. Precautions aro being taken wlicreever Shantungese 'troops are stationed.
At Chefoo the situation remains quiet.
