HONOURED BY ELECTORATE

WOODVILLE, 2nd March. The Hon. E. A. Kansorn, Minister off Public Works, was accorded a civic reception this afternoon by. a representative gathering'-of 'citizens. The Mayor, Mr. H. P. Home, extended:'a welcome 'to the Minister, which, was the first visit of their member since his; elevation to Cabinet rank. 'He paid a tribute to Mi. Ransom's services as a private'member and Minister. Mr. B. H. Norman spoke on behalf of the county. ' '. ~ ■ : ;■■•■'■ Later, the Minister received deputations relating to a request f,or. improved facilities at the entrance to the station, relief from the shunting nuisance at the M'Lean street crossing, erection of a slot telephone in the town, and the subdivision of estates. - The Babbit Trust Association also asked for consideration of an amendment to the Babbit Nuisance Act, pointing out anomalies in the present rating system. ■'',■ i Mr. Bansom promised to bnug the matters before the respective Ministers, and expressed thanks at the congratulations extended to him. Mr. Ransom referred to the, change of Government, and said New Zealanders were sporting people, and. as such were generally prepared to give the Government a fair chance.
