MELBOUBNE, 3rd March.
The Stadium was packed last night for the La Barba-Grime contest, which went the full fifteen rounds.
La Barba gained the verdict on points, and the decision was received with hoots and cheers.
La Barba, who scaled Bst 9Jlb, forced the fighting from the start, and after the second round Grime (Bst ll^lb) appeared distressed. He improved in the fifth and seventh rounds, when ho got one or two good punches in, but the American speeded up and. dominated the rest of the contest. Grime 'was cautioned in the eleventh round for a low blow tp the body. Too much clinching roused tho ire of the onlookers, and everyone was glad when the bout had ended. It is doubtful if Grime could have lasted much longer.
This is La Barba's third and last contest under his'contraet *o Ltd. However, it is possible that he may mowt Bushy Graham'in Sydney for the bantamweight; championship of the world. According to the articles Grime was to make 9st. It was considered that he would have to train, down hard to do this, and thus it is surprising to 'see that he was 2}lb N underweight. This must have weakened him. !
