LAUNCESTON, 27th. February. A single-barrelled gun.was,found under the burned body: of Thama? Archer after a flro destroyed his" home near Devonport yesterday, wiping.--out the whole family. The- gun contained a discharged cartridge. A razor was also found on a bed. A brief bag was found in the garden containing a barelj; decipherable note ending,. ."Good-bye, Tom." - ;-
The bodies of the seven occupants, charred beyond recognition, were found in the ruins. Tho family consisted of Thomas Archer, aged forty-nhie; his wifo, Olive, aged thirty-flVe; two daughters, aged eleven and nine; and three sous, aged six, four, and -ten month a. The fire occurred early in the morning. All tho bodies were in bed except that of the father, which was beside th» bed. .■-.-•
