Joseph Kean, third officer on the Kanownu, gave evidence at the Marine Court inquiry that there was ft three to four-knot current running when tho Kanowna struck tho rocks. Witness was asked whether, if that wcro so, why tho stcamor Mackarra, which was not far away when tho Kunownii struck, should not find herself in the saino plight. Witness replied: "Yes, you would think so." ' Tho hearing was adjourned.
