Tho Thompson forces suffered further defeats at tho local elections to-day when party lines were eliminated' and tho voting was wholly for or against tho Mayor, "Big Bill" Thompson. "Big Bill's" machine, which waa wrecked last April, and practically rebuilt, was dismantled again as aldermon backed by the Civic Association were elected on account of their opposition of Thompson. Thompson, however, still holds a certain amount of power through patrouage, but the reformers beliovo that tho vote has given tho people tho best City Council for years.
