RAILWAY WORKSHOPS.

Ihe second annual picnic of the Government Railway Workshops, Lower Hutt, and the maintenance stall, Kaiwarra, was held at Slaidstone Park on Saturday. The weather conditions were ideal, and there was a large attendance. As the president, Mr. A. E. P. Walworth (workshops manager) was unavoidably absent, the distribution of prizes was made by the vice-presi-dent, Mr. J. A. M'Dougall, assisted by Mrs. M'Dougall. Expressing a hope that everyone had had a most enjoyable day, Mr. M Dougall congratulated all concerned on the manner in which the arrangements had been carried out. Among those present were the Mayor and Mayoress of Petone, Mr. and Mrs. M'Kenzie, Mr. J. W. Fergie (publicity branch), Mr. M. Colquhoun (production department), Mr. Ward (clerical staff), Mr. Linirhin (records), and Mr. Churchouse (Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants).

Sports results: —100 yards married men's race: Mr. Christensen 1, Mr. Davies 2. Three-legged race (ladies and gentlemen): Miss Rosselt and Mr. Pearce. 50yds married ladies' race: Mrs. W.
