INVERCARGILL, 13th February.
A representative cricket match between Southland and Otngo was commenced today in fine weather and on ,i good wicket. Southland batted firat und scored ISO (Cherry 33, Tapley 16, Lynch 37, M'Gowan 10, Diack 13, Keast 33, Nisbct 12). Kastman took five wickets for 60 runs, Shepherd four for 17. Otago has lost . five wickets for 265 (Strang 30, H. C. Alloo 59, Eastman 27, Monk not out 71, Galland 36).
