AURORA LAST NIGHT
On Tuesday a paragraph in "Tho Post" recorded the existence of a largo group of sunspots, and suggosted the likelihood of auroras and magnetic storms. An aurora of very fino colour was visible last evening, though as tho sky-was cloudy many peoplo took the rosy display for a very belated sunset effect. The aurora seems to have been scon as early as 7 o'clock, and was very brilliant about 8.30, but faded soon afterwards. No ."magnetic storm" serious enough to affect tele-, graphic communication was noticed by the Postal authorities. Broadcast listoners aro inclined to oxpect very noisy effects during auroras, but the disturbance is not regularly associated with tho display, and thero was nothing uuusual last night.
