GRATIFYING RESULTS

LONDON, 29th January. Applications amounting to £11,750;----000 have been received from holders of 4 per cent, stock anxious to convert into tho new i\ 1948-58 issue. Inasmuch as the issue is limited to twelve millions of 4 per cent, stock, the result is most gratifying, says the "Financial News."
