ATLANTIC STORM
FEARS FOR THREE VESSELS
Australian I'rcss association.
NEW YORK, 2Sth January. Tho hope of saving threo distressed vessels bearing over seventy-five men dwindled further to-night as tho storms increased in fury after they had battered shipping for over a week. Tho Italian freighter Capovado, the Norwegian steamship Fcrnlauc, and the trawler Seiner have remained silent now for several days. No other vessels have reported finding them, though many are searching.
_ TV British freighter Silver Fern has rigged a jury rudder, and is proceeding slowly towards the coastguard cutter Tampa, which is hurrying to meet it. The Silver Fern will probably be safe, but it is feared the others have foundered, unless one of some score of searching vessels soon reports a discovery.
