BODIES RECOVERED

SEARCH BY AEROPLANE

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

NAPIER, This Day.

The bodies of two Napier High School boys, Hugh Douglas, aged iifteun, and Gordon MaclTarlane, aged sixteen, who were drowned on Thursday evening last when their boat capsized in the inner harbour, were recovered to-day. A search had been kept up by launches since the fatality, and latterly an aeroplane had given assistance. Yesterday at noon both bodies wore sighted from the aeroplane, which immediately landed and a police launch was guided to the spot. An hour's search revealed only MacFarlane's body, the other having drifted away. The latter was seen later by a ferry crossing the outer harbour several miles from the place where it was first noticed by the aeroplane. Before the ferry could land its passengers and recover the second body it was carried by the current and swept to sea, whore it was eventually picked up. ' .

By a, strange coincidence the second body was landed at the wharf from the ferry just as a conveyance with the first body was passing on its way to the morgue.

An inquest was opened for identification purposes and adjourned till Thursday.
