SMASH AT CROSSING
WOMAN KILLED OUTRIGHT
GIRL AND CHILD INJUEED
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) STBATFORD, This Day. A woman was- killed and two girls terribly injured in a collision yesterday between an empty ballast train and a fivc-seater car at the York road level crossing near Midliirst. The victims were: —
Mrs. Mary .Dodunski' (si); driver of the ear, and wife of Mr. Joseph Dodunski', of! York road, killed. Agnes Dodunski (17), daughter of the deceased, scalp injuries, fractured pelvis, and internal injuries.
Mary Dombroski (7), grand-daughter of Mrs. Dodunski. Her injuries include a fractured skull and body burises.
The condition of both the injured is critical. ■ ■
Mrs. Dodunski . was killed outright. Miss Dodunski, who was sitting in the front seat on the. side struck by- the engine, was unconscious, as also was the child, who'-was in the back "seat. '
Prior to the accident the ear had been proceeding up Mountain road from Stratford parallel- with the railway line. Just south of the York road-inter-section the road dips and a view of the line is difficult to obtain. Mrs. Dodunski evidently did not see the train approaching behind, and drove around the corner on to the crossing. The train was not a scheduled one, and this might account for the fact that a bettor look-out was not maintained.
