In the Sheffield Shield match Victoria in the first innings made 2G5. Hooker finished off the tail-enders with three consecutive balls, doing the hat-trick. Hooker took six wieketa for 43, Bettington three for 92, and Nicholls one for 52. The Victorians followed on, aud in the second iunings have made 342 for three wickets (Onyons 131, Scaife. 91, Darling 81 not out). Again Hooker distinguished himself, skittling Austen, the opening batsman's wicket, with ljis first ball. Hooker thus took four wickets With 'four balls.

New South Wales declared its first innings closed with six wickets down for 713.
