AUCKLAND, This Day. A young man named Harold Jackson Clark died under tragic circumstances at a boardinghouse in Symonds street. Deceased, who was aged 24, was a mercer employed in the city. A young lady called to see him and was with him from 7 p.m. to 10.20. Clark, it- is stated, left the room for a few minutes, and on returning complained to his visitor that ho felt ill. "Should anything happen that would separate us, don't think too hard of me," deceased said. He was asked what he meant, and replied, "You will never know what worry I am going to have if you turn me down." The young lady said, "You will have me always." Clark gripped her hand and said, "Shake hands." Ho went very pale, and then succumbed.
An inquest was opened and adjourned. .
