M. Lc Trocquer, ex-Minister of Public Works, presiding at a meeting of the French Channel Tunnel Committee, said that no technical difficulty to the construction of the tunnel existed. The French association favoured a tunnel thirty-three miles long, with a double gallery permitting bettor ventilation than a double line and a single gallery. The estimated expenditure was £24,000,000, and the time for construction would be six years. The return journey to London from Paris would bo accomplished in a clay, l*he law of 1575 granting a concession to the French association still existed, and it only remained for the British Government authorities to authorise a company for exploiting the tunnel, to which the British seemed to be decidedly favourable. i
