OTTAWA, 23ra January. The Minister of Trade and Commerce (Mr. Malcolm) has given a definite assurance- that if more shipping space is required for shipments to the Antipodes the Government will provide- it.

A thorough investigation is being made regarding the steamship service from, the Pacific Coast to Australia preparatory to recommendation being made to Cabinet. A conflict of opinion exists between shippers and steamship concerns as to tho adequacy of the present space.
