DE LUXE THEATRE.
Tho Do Luxe Theatre was again crowded last evening for tho start of tho second week's screening of "The Trail of 'US," a story of the Klondike i;old rush. The picture allows how men ko ma.) in the search for gukl, caring nothing for tho moral aspects of their life or lor the rights of others so long as they'secure tho coveted metal. The picture is excellently Photographed. The plot tells chiefly the story of the ion:; line of wealth saokers. Dolores del Itio plays the leading role, while Kalpli Forbes plays opposite to her. the rest of the cast being outstanding. The snow scenes are excellently done, mid Iho burning dance hall in tho final scenes is also very realistic. Prior 'to the screening of Hie star picture a New Zealand Government Publicity Department Him was shown. It included scenes of the Governor opening Parliament, motor-boat raclnij mi the Wauganui ItiviT. girls' sports at Ciirlaw Park, Auckland, and other topical incidents in the life of tlio Dominion. The Orchestra Do Luxe, tinder the leadership of Air. Samuel Aaruns, played a special score of music, and .Mr. Aarons presided nt the Wurlitzer organ In "My Honeymoon Waltz" and other items. The programme' will bo repeated this evenlnc. and during the coming week.
All the settings.used by Director I'ord in "Four Sons," which is coming to the be Luxe Theatre on t'rlday next. lSlh January. are exact reproductions of places in Germany. During the director's visit to (he Old World, Berlin and the surrounding rural districts claimed the greater part of his time. While there he made photographic records ol the quaint villages, etc., and utilised these "shots" for the sets In his story. Also Ford brought back with him the uniform.-; and military equipment used by Uarle Foxe, Iho cost of which was estimated at UOOO dollars. For his llrst
"heavy" portrayal. Mr. Foxe needed seven complete German officer's uniforms, several sabers, four great tunics', six pairs of boots, and live dozen monocles, not lo mention the quarts of lmir oil necessary to keep his hair in the customary Teutonic straichtness.
