(By Telegraph.—Press Aasociation.) GISBORNE, This Day. When drilling a well at ',tho Patutuhi sub-station of the Waikarcmoana hydro-electric scheme, a contractor tapped a supply of gas at ,80ft, which shot a column of water 25ft into tho air. The water was bubbling with gas> tho nature of which has not been aacortained. It is thought probably that it is marsh gas, such as has been found and utilised elsewhere on the Poverty Bay flats.
