HOLIDAY FIXTURES
ATTRACTIONS FOR TUESDAY .. Many people are still holiday-making,, and incidentally saying hard things about the weather. Trains and service cars are "still running with full complements.of passengers, as are also the ferry boats, but a larger number of people returning to Wellington than was the case last week, when the holiday exodus began shows that the holidays for some are getting over. For tho New Year holiday there will be many/attractions close at hand and far afielcl.. On Tuesday and Wednesday the Wairarapa, Hawkes Bay, and Marton racecourses will havo their usual quota of Wellington patrons. The sports meeting at Paraparaumu, and the motor-cycle races at Levin on New Year's Day, will both be well attended if the weather' is kind, and many, ,no doubt, will take advantage of the Wahine's trip, to 'Picton. Locally, bowlers and tennis players will be well catered for, the outstanding cricket fixture being the match at the Basin Reserve between the junior representatives of Wellington and- Canterbury. Petone's beach carnival will still be in full swing, and Eastbourne and other favourite picnic spots are-sure to be well patronised.
