DANCE HALL BEHAVIOUR

Complaints as to.tlie objectionable behavour during dances at a Petono hall were received at the Petone Borough Council s meeting last night. The complaint, signed by several residents living near the hall, said that "patrons are in the habit ot parking their cars alongside' our gates— practically at our front doors. ( Continually during the course of these dances groups of youths and young girls rush to the cars (and some, don't eve.n; trouble to: hide themselves)- and'indulge hv an orgy ot drinking; and the noise and filthy, disgusting language that goes on is hair-raising to put it mildly. On top of that they make a common practice of throwing their empty bottles, and even full ; ones, inside our fences and on.our paths." ■ .. Police officers -repotted that they Had visited the place, ,and: -except for three cars parked ioff longer than the stipulated thirty minutes had found nothing objectionable. It was decided to receive the letter. The matter o£ providing a parking place was left in the hands ot the inspector.
