ST. PATRICK'S COLLEGE

THE PRJZE DISTRIBUTION The year's work at St. Patrick's College was reviewed by the Rector (Rev. Fr. B. J. Ryan, S.M., M.A.) at the ceremony in connection with the distribution of prizes which took place at the college last evening. ■ With the closing of this year, lie said, the college had completed its 44th year of existence. Incidentally, this year marked the completion of 50 years of special educational effort ou the part of the Catholics of the Dominion. It was a lit occasion to express congratulations to the Hierarchy, clergy, the religious teaching orders, and the laity, on half a century of educational sacrifice. The school year had been most successful in point of numbers, school spirit, study, sport, health. The roll was now 202. Detailing the work, the Rector said a new woodwork department had been opened, and there were prospects of further development in a bigger and better commercial school, and perhaps in classes in the evening for boys who had to leave school early for work. Thero were over 00 examination results last year, and leaving certificates; 28 matriculation and kindred examinations; and 20 Public Service, and others. Father Ryan paid ;i tribute to the work of the recent Rector (Fr. Gilbert). The school was accepted as a leader of religious secondary education. For that it was honoured.
