THE KELLOGG TREATY

DIRECT OPPOSITION UNLIKELY (Eeceivod Bth December, 2.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, 7th December. It was declared after Friday's meeting of the Senate Foreig-n Eelations Committee that there was no indication of direct opposition to tho ' Kellogg Treaty. What is most 1 oked for is a possible move for reservation with respect to the Monroe doctrine. Mr. Kellogg expressed his belief to the'committee that the treaty would not interfere with the doctrine. Proponents of the pact are confident of putting it through the Senate unchanged. Mr. Kellogg reported to Mr. Coolidge afterwards that the committee's attitude appeared to be favourable.
