HEALTH LAWS
(To the Editor.) Sir, —Once more we have tlic summer hero, but no improvement in the handling of our fish supply. We will still see the flies attacking the fish to their hearts' content, and in full view of everyone. It's just about time New Zealand^ health bylaws were tightened up, or some new ones made. The handling of fresh meat could well receive attention also. Why are some shops allowed to fill their windows with sweets? One often sees sweets that have discoloured through the length- of time they have been in windows. What becomes of these, sweets after they have served for show purposes in the windows? How-about the water and the towels used in connection with the washing and wiping of glasses in the hotels? How many clean towels are the attendants allowed to use during the course of a day? New Zealand is ahead in most matters, but I think they are just a few years behind other parts of tlie Empire in the matter of food health laws.—l am, etc., FRESH WATER. sth December.
