SCULLING
N.S.W. CHAMPIONSHIPS TWO NEW ZEALANDEKS INVITED Recently the New South Wales Amateur Rowing Association invited a NewZealand eight and a sculler to compete at the New South Wales championships, to be held at Sydney on 22nd | December. The New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association declined to send the eight, but selected A. K. G. Jackson (Union Club, Wanganui), , the New Zealand amateur champion, to represent New Zealand in the championship sculls, in which race Pearce, the Australian sculler and Olympic champion, is to participate. Tho New Zealand Association, after making the selection, - wrote to the N.S.W. Association advising them that the runner-up to Jackson in the championship sculls, G. S. Bright (Wellington Club), was anxious to row with Pearce aud Jackson, and advide has now been received that the invitation has been extended to Bright. The New South Wales Association is paying tho expenses of the scullers while they are in Sydney. The New Zealand' Council has contributed fllO towards Jackson's expenses. Jackson leaves by the Marama on 7th December. It is understood that Wanganui rowing enthusiasts are endeavouring to raise sufficient money to send W. Webb, of Wanganui, ex-world's champion, to Sydney with Jackson. The invitation to Bright is to be considered at a special meeting of the Wellington Rowing Association.
