POWER CABLES STOLEN
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, This Day. Extensive thefts of power cables from construction work were reported to the Auckland Electric Power Board by tho general manager, Mr. R. 11. Bartley. It was stated that since Ist October "an epidemic of thieving had broken out, and that on six occasions lengths of cable to a total value of £43 had disappeared. Ask where tho thieves disposed of such property, Mr. Burtlcy said tho cable was cut up and kept until it looked fairly old, and then was probably sold to foundries. "I do not think the position has been so bad before," said Mr. Bartley. "Thieves have been busy practically throughout the month,"
