SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS.
The cyclone from the Tasman Sea has gradually enveloped the Dominion, and since last evening it has been productive of good general rains. There have been some heavy falls at places, and in the neighbourhood of Wellington during Monday evening a thunderstorm was experienced. Kelburn Observatory had 71 points of rain for the. 24 hours. Other heavy falls reported were: Cape Maria Van Dicmen 42 points, Ruatoria 203, East Cape 49, Wanganui 51, Foxton 60, Cape Campbell 40, and (luecnsland 51 points. Moderate to strong winds between north and west have prevailed north of Cook Strait, while thence southwards easterlies have given place to moderate southerlies. Warm temperatures were general during Monday, but by tills morning a cool change had set in over the South Island.
