"The Student Prince" is now being shown at the lie Luxe Theatre. As a musical comedy, "The Student Prince" captured tho heart of tiie world, and now Its screen version comes as a splendid picture for Ramon Novarro and Norma Shearer. Ramon Novarro reaches tho pinnacle of histrionic expression as the unhappy scion of a royal house who Muds tho human companionship he craves among the students of Heidelberg University, but. after one short year, is forced back to tho pomp and ceremony of Court routine. Norma Shearer makes an adorable Kathie, aud stirs the depth of human emotions as the peasant girl, who has one brief glimpse of romance. Jean Hersholt, as Dr. Juttner, the kindly tutor, plays a character role worthy of special mention. A gazette, cartoon, and comedy are also screneed, and tho usual excellent musical programme is supplied by Mr. Aarons at the Wurlitzer organ and by the orchestra. Fred Mayfleld's Cowboy Band, which has been secured by tho De Luxe Theatre, is said to bo the highest paid musical combination at present In New Zealand. The band will open a season next Friday. Tho Cowboy Band is composed of nine musicians, who play, in all, no fewer than 37 different instruments, including saxophones, steel guitars, trumpets, banjos, clarinets, celeste, oboe, trombone, mandolin, and piano. Box plans are now available at the Bristol, at Begg's (Manners street), and Aitken's Book Arcade (Courtenay place). A special comedy is to be presented in addition to the band. This is entitled "How to Handle Women," and stars Glen Tryon and Marion Nixon.
