BLAZE AT THAMES
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) THAMES, This Day. A fire- at 1.30 this morniug completely destroyed a large building in Brown street used as a store, belonging to Messrs. A. and Gr. Price. Tho origin is unknown, and. tho building was well ablaze when the- alarm was given, threatening a row of two-story shops opposite. The brigade made a splendid save of a new residence and an adjoining stable which used to bo the Scotia Hotel in the early Thames days and was afterwards converted into a drill hall for the Haurald Eifles and Thames Scottish Volunteers, finally being used as Hawkc 's stables, from which in the later gold days a regular coach time-table- was run to Coromandel, Paeroa, Te Aroha/ and Waihi. ■ The insurances are £450 on tho building and SGO on the contents.
