CORNWELL CUP
♦ , VENUE OF NEXT CONTEST A suggestion that the next Cornwc-11 Cup contest might be held ut Wellington was made in a letter from tlio Takapuna Uoating Club (Auckland), which was considered at last night's meeting of the Wellington Provincial Yacht and Motor-boat Association. The letter pointed out that Auckland was quite prepared to hold the contest on the Waitemata, but was willing to defend the cup in any other part. In the event of the races being held at Wellington, the Takapuna Club would give every assistance. . "Better let them carry on at Auckland, I think," remarked the chairman (Mr. J. Moffat). Mr. A. Aldred (Heretannga) said that his club had three Takapunas which would be eligible, and Worser Bay had one. The chairman said that it was really a question of finance; the Takapuna Club would probably be willing to send the boats down. Mr. W. B. Ginders (Paremata) considered that it was a little premature at present to try to conduct a contest either on Wellington Harbour or Porirua Harbour. The Takapuna class was not yet sufficiently strong here for the association to take on such a big undertaking as the contest. He moved, and it was decided, that while thanking the Takapuna Club for its offer, the association should point out that it did not foci inclined this year, in view of the strength •of the class to conduct the contest.
