Every thirty minutes there is a marriage in Now York, every six minutes a birth, and every ten minutes a death. Every two days there is a murder. There are in New York more Italians than in Rome, more Irish than in Dublin, and more Germans than iv Hamburg and Bremen combined. The number of Poles is equal to two-thirds of the population in Warsaw, and the number of Jews to half the total of the Jews in Soviet Russia. At a meeting of the Opotiki Hospital Board it was reported that the X-ray plant had been installed at the hospital, tho total cost being nearly £1000. Tests had been made, with satisfactory results. It was decided to write to the other hospital boards in the Bay of Plenty asking if they would join in applying to the G.pvernment for a bacteriologist to be stationed in a central position in tho district.
