The following forecast was Issued at 3 a.m. to-day for the ensuing 24 hours:— Winds —Moderate to strong south-east to easterly winds prevailing north from Cook Strait, later backing to northerlles, and Increasing in the north; elsewhere freshening north-cast to northerly winds. Barometer—Falling In tho South; little movement at first, but falling later in other parts. Seas—Heavy swell between Kalkoura and East Cape, but decreasing, and otherwise smooth to moderate seas. Tides—Good on the east coast; poor In the South Taranaki Bight; moderate elsewhere. Weather—Fair to fine gonerally, with milder temperatures, but unsettled conditions developing within 48 hours, . i
