A NEW GRASS

The ofllcer of tho Division of Botany of the Department of Agriculture at Durban have as the result of experiments, secured a grass of outstanding merit and great promise, according to the director of the Division, Dr. I. B. Pole-Evans. This grass is known, as "woolly finger grass." The average carrying capacity of Pretoria voldt was usually estimated at i! 0 acres per beast, ho said, but by laying down one acre of this grass under dry land conditions it had been shown conclusively that it was possible to change tho carrying capacity of tho veldt, from 30 acres to a beast to one acre per beast. If this can be done on a large scale, this experiment will be of immense value.
