DEADLY LEVEL CROSSING

~ SMASH AT PICTON A WOMAN KILLED [ ;_ (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) BLENHEIM, This Day. A fatal accident occurred at the Broadway railway crossing, Picton, at 11 o 'clock this morning. The Blenheim to Picton train ran into a motorcar driven by Miss B. E. Chaytor, and containing Mrs. J. K. Hannah, who is the wife of tho bank manager of the Bank of New Zealand, at Picton, Mrs. Latter, of Picton, and Aliss K. Hursthouse, of Wellington. The car was overturned, and Mrs. Hannah, aged about 50, was killed instantly. Miss Chaytor received severe leg injuries, and Miss Hursthouso severe bruises." Miss Hursthouse is also suffering from shock, and is in hospital with Miss Chaytor. Mrs. Latter escaped more or less without injury.
