LETTERS.
Dear Fairiel, —I felt so cross with the rain on Thursday. We were ready to go to the Show when down it came. So dad brought us out to Levin to' got crackers for-Guy Fawkes instead. Some people went as far as Shannon, then turned back because the water was over the road. Tho Foxton road is still flooded, and all the cars are going past our place. We are high up, aud wo can pee the flood across the -river. It is (going down now. We. might have been able to send the photo of Tiger Tim, but-the camera yas stiff and they did not come out properly. —Love from BETTY BOLSTOiV. Levin. Dear Fairiel, —Although I asked you pnay I type my letters to you, I have not yet done so, but as tho typewriter is in another tooiii to that in which the electric heater is, I do not feel as if I'd like to leave the warm one. I had a most enjoyable time yesterday, for I went over the great warship that is here, namely, H.M.S. Dunedin. "We know an officer on it, which made it much more interesting, for he could point out every place. We looked through large telescopes and at the big searchlights, and even had a look through the huge guns. Below the heat was something awful after the cool breeze of the deck. We saw about 10 little kitchens, and cooks were in each, but the officer told us there were more. We then had afternoon tea in a little loom with somo officers. The doctor took us to tho ward, and thero wore two patients in it. Oh, dear, 1 didn 't know it was that time. I really must close now, Fairiel. Just one more word before I go. You will bo awakened early to-morrow morning, for it is Guy Fawkes. What a blaze there will bo in tlie evening with all the bonfires lighting; > Good-night Fairiel, I must go. Lots of love.
