WEDDINGS
The wedding of Mr. William E. Vine, son of Major E. Vine and Mrs. Vine, of Blenheim, and Miss Alice OH, tho third daughter of Mrs. M. Ott, of Island 'Bay, took place at the Manse, the Rev. W. Shirer officiating. After the ceremony Mrs. Lloyd M'Millan, Crawford road, Kilbirnio (sister of the bride) entertained the couple and relatives to afternoon tea. The room was beautifully decorated with pink tulips and Iceland poppies. A wedding was solemnised at the Basilica, Hill street, when Emma, elder daughter of Mrs. J. E. Lambert, Pareniata, was married to George, youngest son of the late Mrs. Sievers, Kelburn. The bride, who ontered the church with her brother, Mr. A. Lambert, Khandallah, wore a beautiful frock of cream marictto and lace. She wore also an embroidered veil and orange blossoms and carried a sheaf of arum lilies. Misses Evelyn Pack and Joyce Lambert were bridesmaids, the former wearing a frock of cyclamen georgette and diamanto with which was worn a picture hat, and the latter pale pink cropo de chine, prettily embroidered, and a picture hat to tone. Both bridesmaids carried bouquets of cyclamen and freezias intermingled with lily of the valley and maidenhair fern. Mr. Jaiiies Sievers was best man and Mr. Peter Lambert groomsman. After tho ceremony a reception was held at the residence of the bride's mother, where Mrs. Lambert received wearing a pretty frock of black crepe- do chine and cream lace. Later the bride and bridegroom left for the North, the bride travelling in a navy costume, small white hat, and. handsome fox fur (the present of the bridegroom). Gold armlets were the bridegroom's gift. to the bridesmaids. A wedding which occasioned much interest in Christchurch was that of Fay, second-daughter of Mr. arid Mrs. T. E. Gibson, of Merivale, who was married to John Maclean, only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Reid, of Burnsidc, Oamaru. The Yen. Archdeacon Haggitt performc' the ceremony. The bride's simply cut gown was of rich white satin, the sleeves long and tight-fitting. Tlic folds of satin at the side were pointed, and a similar flared drapery hung from one shoulder. .. An old Limerick lace veil formed tho train, and over all was worn a veil of tulle. -The bridal bouquet was .of lilies .of tho valle}'. The three bridesmaids,- Misses Nancy Gibson, Joan Reid, and Elizabeth Harris, wore, dressed alike in palestpoach blossom taffetas, made with tight-fitting bodices, deep V-neck lino, long sleeves, and full skirts. These'were scalloped and bordered'in tulle, and sashes were tied in bouffant bows at the back. Their Bankok hats were powder blue in shado, trimmed with a roll of narrow velvet and bow beneath the brims to tono. The posies were of forget-me-nots, and each woro a "choker" of blue beads. Two little'children, Pamela Watherston and. David Gould, were flower-girl and pago respectively, tho former in pink taffetas with frills of not, and a wreath of forget-me-nots, and the latter in a blue satin suit. Mr. W. F. M. Cowlishaw was best man, and Mr.. R. Chaffey groomsman. A largo number of guests were entertained at the homo of Mr. and Mrs. Gibson, at "Ashbrook." Mrs. Gibson wore an ensemble of blue lace with a diamante buckle defining tho waist, her hat being of fine tagel straw, sapphire blue, to tono with the frock, and with a bouquet of pink tulips to finish tho costumo. When the brido loft later she was wearing an ensemble suit of beige georgette, the long transparent coat, having bell-sleeves with wide cuffs of Belgian haro fur exactly the same shade, the long scarf collar being trimmed to match. Her hat of apple green was simply banded with velvet and tied in a bow in front.
