The German airship Graf Zeppelin, which left Friedrichshafen, Lake Constance, : Bavaria, at- 7.15 a.m. on Thurs day on a: trans-Atlantic .voyage, has reached America. She was reported over Norfolk, Virginia, at 10 a.m. on Monday, and over Washington at 12.21 p.m. Having wirelessed for and . received permission, the Graf Zeppelin flew over the city shortly after noon. Clouds tended .partially to obscure the outlines, but the airship was clearly visible from trees and roofs. Huge crowds gathered-in the streets, while whistles and sirens blew a welcome. Mr. Curtis ,D. Wilbur, Secretary of the Navy, accompanied-by naval offic ers and others, took up. his position on the roof of the' Navy Department building, over which Captain Eckener pilot ed his giant craft, after which he flew over the White House, where President Coolidge and his wifo viewed the airahip from the roof. Observers were able /clearly to perceive the damaged fin, of which three-fourths on the left side of the craft'at the tail''had been shattered, but the damage appeared not to .affect the manoeuvring. The airship's officers earlier wirelessed greeting to President Coolidge, to whom the latter '.replied. The President also cabled his felicitations to President yon Hindenburg.
