HUTT VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL

The monthly meeting of the Board oi Governors of the Hutt Valley High School was held last night. In reply to a letter from the board regarding liability for accidents to pupilt at school the Education Department stat ed that the position as to the liability of school boards had been exaggerated, but it advised that boards should where pos sible insure themselves against such contingencies. The board considered this an unsatisfactory reply, and decided to write again asking for a definite ruling ■is to whether boards are liable and if so to what extent. It was reported that a donation (car rying a Government subsidy) would probably he received from the Lowei Hutt Borough Council. The board decided to ask the Upper. Hutt and Petone Borough Councils for contributions. A letter of appreciation is to be sent to the Parents' Association for its valuable assistance to the school. In two years the association's monetary contributions and the Government subsidy have .amounted to over £300, besides which the association has helped to obtain .1. piano and a typewriter. Letters of thanks are to be sent to Messrs. Newel 1, Baker, and Parrant for donations to the school.
