ATHLETIC SPORTS CLUB
The annual report of the Athletic Sports Club shows that tlio membership is increasing, and it is claimed that the club has perhaps the largest number of junior members in Wellington. The active membership now stands at 01. The club was fairly well represented in meetings controlled by the Wellington Centre, and at the Wellington championships the following met with success: E. E. Poulton, H. Ellis, W. Killeen, and W. Tonkin. Club trophies were won as follows: Anderson Memorial Cup, W. Gardiner; Thompson Challenge Cup, J. Shepherd; Peterson Challenge Cup, G. Hetherington; Cycle Challenge Cup, J. A. Foote; Walking Cup, W. Tonkin; Travers Cup, H. Ellis; Junior Cup, H. Ellis; Adams Trophy, H. Ellis. Reference is made to the popularity of the electric light meetings and to the relay racing competitions in which the club took part. Consideration was given to the formation of a ladies' branch, and it was decided to go ahead with the proposal if sufficient .support was forthcoming. Appreciation is expressed of the facilities offered for training at Tanora Park, and of the assistance- given in this connection by Mr. J. Blair, senr.
