LORD MAYOR OF LONDON

ELECTION AT END OF MONTH Britisb Official Wireless. RUGBY, 14th' September. It is expected that London's next Lord Mayor will be Sir Kyiiaston Studd, who has for many years beou prominently identified with social work and was in In's younger days a notablecricketer. He played for Eton and Middlesex,., and captained the Cambridge University team iv 187-1. His election is made probable by the generous action of hia friend, Sir Harold Moore, who, although a, much younger man; is the senior, Alderman eligible, and would normally h.uvo become Iho next Lord Mayor. This is the second occasion Sir Harold has .stood asido to enable an older man to assume the highest municipal honour, a similar action last year having made possible the election of the preseut Lord Mayor, Sir € Charles Batho. The election ceremony takes place at the end of this month.
