PAVING TENDERS
BITUMEN AND CONCRETE COMPARISON OF PRICES When the paving of the 6J miles of highway between Ngahauranga Gorge and Tawa Flat, with the exception of the stretch through Johnuonville, was under consideration by the local Highways Board, the relative merits and costs of bitumen and concrete -were keenly debated. This is a question which vitally affect every local authority that has roads to form or to maintain, and much interest accrues from a comparison of the tenders received for the work.' " Six tenderers responded, four tor tna bituminous hot mix and two for con« crete, the quoted prices being as foH lows: — BITUMEN.
The members of the successful firm, Messrs. M'Kenzie, Duncan, and Duncan, are all former employees of the City Council's engineers' department, and men experienced in bitumen paving work.
