NEW LOCOMOTIVES

(Special to "The Evening Post") AUCKLAND, This. Day. Built under Government contract, the first of the three new locomotives which are being constructed by Messrs. Price Bros., Thames, for the Railway Department, is no* at Newmarket, workshops. Mr. J. P. Maekley, locomotive ■ engineer for the North Island, stated that the quality of work put into this' locomotive was quite in keeping with the high standard turned out by the Thames firm, who had built several engin«s for the New Zealand railways. It was learned, that Messrs. Price Bros.t were also lending valuable assistance to the Railway Department by carrying out heavy overhauls to some of the jocomotives, the reason being that the workshops both' at N<2wmar,ket and Petone are working at high; pressure at present.
