THE SUMMER TIME BILL
(To the Editor.) Sii'j—l am sure come members of Parlia* ment must be feeling the deepest satisfaction at the successful manner in which the Summer Time Bill has been got rid of, so to speak. It is amazing that the wishes of the majority of the population of New; Zealand should be treated in this manner. for there is not the slightest doubt abouß it thai if this matter was put to the vot» of the people—which it should be—it would be carried by a vast majority. I can only say that the treatment of thi» Bill has caused the most bitter disappointment to New Zealanders living in both the cities and country towns, and I am sure this matter will be a strong lactor in the coining elections. New Zealand's manufacturing industries are rapidly increasing, and soon the time will como when the majority of workers will not be ruled by the minority c£ farmers. The strange part about it is that a great- number of farmers are not affected, at all whether we have summer time or not. They say it makes no difference to them. The farmers have had very fair treatment and an enormous amount of assist.ance from the Government during the hard times they have been through, so I think it is up to the Government to think of the worker and give him daylight saving, which does not cost anything. Mid which. increases our happiness and health.—l am. etc., . " ONE OF THE PEOPLE. 14th September.
