Barometers have fallen since last night, the fall being fairly considerable In southern parts owing to the advance of a rather steep depression across the Tasman Sea. Winds, which have been mostly from west and north, have gradually freshened In and south of Cook Strait, and this morning they were blowing with gale strength at some places. Fair to fine weather has continued in tho eastern districts north from Akaroa, but elsewhere conditions have become cloudy, and scattered rain has fallen in Westland, Otago, and the high country of tho South Island. Temperatures have been mild everywhere.
