GAOL FOR IMMIGRANT
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ASHBURTON, This Day. Arthur Charles Fowler Gibb (31), a recent arrival from England, where he was an architect, surprised the Court officials to-day by demanding trial by jury on a charge of being a rogue- and vagabond. To avoid expense the police withdrew this charge, but on a second count of being idlo and disorderly in that he had no lawful means ot' support, tho accused was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. He had been three times previously convicted. The police stated that the accused had begged food in tho Lowcliffe district,' where he slept on sacks iv a obafi store?
