WHOLESALE ARRESTS ABSENCE OF ALFONSO Australian Press Association (Eeeeived 13th September, 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, 12th Sept. The "Daily Express" states that telegrams from Madrid are censored severely, but more than three thousand prominent people have been arrested in Spain in the past two days and charged with plotting tho overthrow of General de .Rivera. A message from the frontier states that Liberals, Eopublicans, and Communists are involved in a nationwide plot to deport tho Cabinet and declare a general strike. The Government has now control of the situation, but the country is very nervous. King Alfonso is in Sweden and going to Scotland; hence the Dictator's enemies' choice of the time to strike. There is anxiety regarding the army's loyalty in the King's absence. There have been clashes of revolutionists and troops in a number of cities. General de Eivera is bringing thousands of troops to Madrid to maintain order.
