AUSTRALIAN WHARVES
NO WORK UNDER AWARD, SERVICES DISLOCATED United Press Association—By Electric Tela> graph—Copyright. (Received 13th September, 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. ' Steamers trading with New Zealand and the Pacific Islands will, according to the present arrangements, continue to maintain their schedules. There has been no hitch so far in regard to the Ulimaroa, which is sailing to-morrow. Eight vessels, averaging 3000 tons each, are laid up at Sydney. Passenger services right round the coast have been, suspended. Travellers for West Australia have had their fares refunded and are being transferred to the Trans-Australiaji Railway. The afternoon pick-ups again failed on the Sydney waterfront, and shipowners decided, in view of the cbaoa reigning, not to receive any more general cargo for shipment at Sydney to interstate ports on the mainland. Plenty of labour was available at the morning pick-up and all vessels ■were worked. The men are still refusing to work under the new award at Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Melbourne. At the last-named port the shipowners have eancolled all interstate passenger bookings, and state that if the dispute is not settled by Monday the owners will employ free labour.
