EVANS BAY CLUB PRESENTATION OF PRIZES Prizes won during the past season of the Evans Bay Yacht and Motor Boat Club were presented at a function held in the clubhouse last evening. The commodore (Mr. C. Holmes) presided, and there was a very large attendance of members and their friends. A hearty welcome to the visitors was extended by the commodore, who said that during the coming season the club was to function for the first time purely as a yachting club. In past years the club had ' been dependent to a great extent upon its social activities, but this season attention would be concentrated almost, entirely upon yachting. Mr. Holmes mentioned in conclusion that the clubhouse was now free of debt. In this j connection lie paid a tribute to the officers and membei-3 who had made possible the present sound financial position. The revival of club interest which had followed the appointment of Mr. Holmes as commodore was referred to by the president (ilr. J. Paterson) who said it was pleasiug to note that the club's membership and fleet were growing. The club's position to-day was, he thought, sounder than ever before. Mr. Paterson spoke of the advent of the outboard motor-boats, and the desirability of providing races for Ihcse speedy and attractive craft. Before tho season was over he considered that outboarders would be racing in the Bay. Mr. T. Forsyth, M.P., one of the vicepresidents, assured the club of his continued interest in its affairs. Mr. W. H. WagstafF, a prominent racing official of the club for many years, and the representatives of the kindred clubs, also spoke. Another vice-president, Mr. J. J. Clark, made interesting reference to tho earlier days of yachting in Evans Bay. Before presenting the prizes, the patron (Mr. A. A.
