1 No vessels in tho British Navy, tho Admiralty states, are fitted to make use of coal or oil as completely alternative fuels. A few coal-burning ships require, however, to uso a small proportion of oil fuel when developing full power, and, subject to tho exigencies of the service, the use of the latter fuel is restricted to such occasions and to the very small expenditure essential for tho necessary training of tho personnel. The boilers of these vessels aro not fitted to burn oil alone. ,
