♦■ , RIWAKA MEMORIAL GATES (From Our Own Correspondent.) NELSON, 10th September. A public meeting was held at Biwaka last night for the purpose of presenting the balance-sheet in connection with the fund for the erection of the Memorial Gates, which have now been completed. Mr. D. It. Drummon'd was in the chair. The report showed a credit balance of £28 Is, an outstanding account for the erection of tho gates for £31 10s not being included in tho balance-si oct. It is proposed to improve the site behind tho gates, and to malto a further canvass for tho necessary funds. Mr. J. Horn, M.P. for Wakatipu, spent the week-end in Nelson visiting relatives. Mr. Horn, who has represented Wakatipu for the past nine years, is not seeking re-election. An interesting Rugby football match has been arranged for next Saturday betw.een a ■Wellington team and Nelson. Weather conditions during the weekend wero boisterous and very cold. Much snow has fallen 'on all the hills, oven down on tho Fringe, and some cold frosty, nights may be expected. To-day is beautifully sunny, but tho air still has- a keen tang. Pupils of tho Boys' and Girls' Colleges are arriving back to-day preparatory to tho reopening of tho colleges to-morrow. During the coming week-end tho annual competition for the Moore Reid Golf Cup will be played at Tahuna by teams representing Nelson and Marlborougii.
